Days and Nights

Sold drugs…. loved money

Didn’t want a 9-5

Made more in a week than people with 2 masters… No bachelors or high school diploma… Left school at 10th grade…it was hustling everyday…ashy knuckles stomach growling…

Standing for hours…

2 kids lived with his mother

Paid her rent stayed out late….

Everyone in Harlem knew his name

No kid anymore

Grown man

Longing for the days of no more pissy elevators

Longing for the smell of green grass….when he wakes up

wanted white picket fences

Maybe 2 dogs and a Lexus

A wife that’s not stressing him

Prayed the day will come… when he could come home in time before his kids go to bed

Instead… of standing out here in these cold streets….did it..so they can have sneakers on their feet… food to eat…

clothes on their back

Tears rolling down his face…..  praying these days and nights of hustling will soon pass….
